The SJHHS Freshmen Boy?s Basketball ?Blue? team opened its regular season with two convincing victories last week. The Blue team and the Freshman Reserve ?Gold? team will be competing in a free-lance schedule this year, against schools in their Pacific Coast League, as well as against other schools from throughout Southern California.

The Blue team christened their new gymnasium against the Patriots of Irvine Beckman High School. Behind a potent offense and effective zone defense, the Stallions built an early lead and never looked back. The final score of 66-34 fully satisfied the home team crowd.

Will Acromite led all Stallions with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Cody Schmitz and Payton Reisman added 12 points each. Schmitz was 3-for-5 from behind the 3-point stripe.

The Stallions? next game was against the Tustin High School Tillers. The Fab Freshmen were matched against an all sophomore team. They met the challenge, easily defeating the Tillers, 52-13.

San Juan Hills broke out of the gate to an early lead behind back-to-back threes by Dylan Ibar. The Stallions put up 17 unanswered points before their opponents were able to score a field goal. Playing time was divided up amongst the entire team, as Coach Brian Carmer was able to empty the bench in the first half.

Will Acromite led the balanced attack with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four other players contributed an additional six points each.

The Stallions are on the road this week, against Santa Ana Godinez on Tuesday and Riverside Rubidoux on Thursday.
